We chose this excerpt from the film A Monster Calls because it’s a film we all really loved.

Connor’s encounter with the monster

We thus decided to work on this excerpt because the staging of Juan Antonio Bayona was interesting on several points. Indeed, in this excerpt, a certain tension settles down because it is the first meeting of Connor with the monster.

This film deals with several interesting themes such as the childhood, the mourning or the transition to adulthood. We also chose this excerpt because it is interesting from the point of view of the set (generous with props and large set pieces), the image (movement, machinery, point recovery, light) but also the post-production (VFX, calibration).

This excerpt from the film allowed us to approach the complexity of filming in a larger crew while addressing very specific points on each set.
