A not-to-be-missed event for independent cinema
The Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival promises to be an exciting week, with competitions, previews, new retrospectives and other special moments to celebrate free, strong and happy cinema. The press conference to announce the programme took place on 18 September on our Bordeaux campus!
At this conference, the FIFIB team presented the programme for the new 2024 edition. With no fewer than 640 film submissions, the selection process was particularly rigorous. The six members of the selection committee held lengthy discussions to put together a diverse programme reflecting the richness of independent cinema. The selection featured a wide range of genres, from comedy and documentary to drama and genre films. However, all the films share a common thread: a strong message.
Some great encounters and moments
Our students had the privilege of meeting director and screenwriter Noémie Merlant (Les femmes au balcon, the Festival’s opening film) and producer Pierre Guyard (Le règne animal) on our campus. It was a meeting marked by rich and inspiring exchanges.
We also hosted the SRF x FIFIB Workshop, in collaboration with the Société des Réalisatrices et Réalisateurs de Films, on the subject of AI and film creation: “What uses and good practices to take advantage of it, while minimising the risks?“
Our Bordeaux campus opened its doors to Nouvelle Aquitaine Film Workout, which offered exclusive screenings for professional guests and picture music composers.
We’re delighted to be playing an active part in this major independent film event, a unique opportunity for our students to meet new people and gain new inspiration for the future!
