In their second year, students immerse themselves in the world of filmmaking by making a documentary film. This year, a group of students from CinéCréatis Lyon immersed themselves in the vibrant and spiritual world of gospel music. But beyond the vocal harmonies and emotions it evokes, the documentary asks: does today’s gospel still draw on its roots to convey its values of hope, love and spirituality?
Exploring the Heart of Modern Gospel Music
To answer this question, the students followed a gospel group in France. At the heart of this exploration is the point of view of their choir leader, who passionately shares her experience and vision of the practice.
The choristers, all united by the same passion for singing and the messages they wish to convey, also confide in us. Their relationship with gospel, their motivations and the way they perform this music steeped in history are all themes addressed in the documentary.
A grand finale
The documentary adventure culminates in the final presentation, the fruit of months of preparation. This emotional moment highlights the collective energy, talent and spirituality of these artists.
